Happy Undas folks. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I wrote the zombie essays. Those who don’t have a clue of what I’m talkin about can check the following links:

Meanwhile, I’m currently resisting the temptation to lapse into yet another tirade of the events of the past twelve months, not that it was that bad to begin with, but more to the point: the year isn’t over yet, and before we let ourselves slip into christmas mode, Hallows gotta come first.
One thing I did learn about this year is the wonderful world of Internet Video! Between youtube and google video there is less and less reason to watch TV nowadays. And as a reprise to my horror write-up of twelve months ago, here’s a sneak peak at what you guys ought be indulging in during the oh-so-short halloween holidays. The good thing about horror movies is that you do not have to do much thinking:
Gothika
Wanna know how flipped out Halle Berry really is? Do you pride yourself in being a rational skeptic? What if you saw something that challenged all that? Find out the answers in this chilling psycho ghost thriller.
Exorcist: The Beginning
The original movie is still the best devil-flick of all time, but it doesn’t hurt much to know what events that happened before the original. Take note, there are TWO versions–the first one starred our very own Billy Crawford as the demon spawn, but for some reason (presumably other than Billy) the producers scrapped it and produced a second prequel, starring an african(?) boy as the possessed. The first movie was entitled Dominion but was released in 2005. The following clip is from the second prequel, released in 2004. (Both movies are easily available in any VCD/DVD store).

Night Of The Living Dead
After seeing the first two films above, you might get sick of the slow-paced "realization that something isn’t right" of subtle horror movies, and would like to get blatant horrific action from the get-go. Old campy B-movie horror is for you then! And before you waste your time on other B-movies, go for the best there is: George Romero’s Living Dead series(Night of, Dawn of, Day of, Land of).
The first one was remade twice (the second one is coming this year!). Here’s the 1990s remake, which is even better than the original. (A little personal nostalgia for me in this clip because I used to drive a white Mercedes 200E similar to the heroine… didn’t encounter any zombies though).
Happy Halloween! They’re coming to get you….
